• What conditions existed in the United States which allowed the Industrial Revolution to take root and flourish in America ? Railroads were created and helped transport items across the country, this is how Industrialization spread throughout America
• How did laissez-faire capitalism influence the development of business organization in the United States ? Economic system was used to create capital and to compete with others to gain income.
• Were the leaders of Big Business "robber barons," or in fact "captains of industry?" They were Robber Barons and captains because some of them they didnt care for anyone but themselves. Although some of them did care for other people.
• How did some philosophies serve to support class division during the Gilded Age? The Main philosophy that supported class devision during the guilded age was Social Darwinism, which said that the strongest buisness has the right to be strong and they did so by giving there workers low wages and many hours of work.
• How did the Industrial Revolution cause urbanization and a dramatic increase in the number of immigrants to the United States ?
• What effect did urbanization and immigration have on the United States ? Urbanization had a huge effect in the U.S because better buildings and factories came. So when the factories were made the immigrants worked in them so it was good for them to come over to the U.S.
• Why have many historians considered the late 1800's in America to be a Gilded Age; a period which was outwardly showy, but inwardly corrupt? They thought this because people in the upper class usually tried to buy out a company and then raised prices of that companies services to make a bigger profit for themselves
• How did early reaction to the Gilded Age attempt to correct the abuses of the period? Early reaction to the Gilded Age attempted to correct the abuses by Shortening hours and Cleaning up working conditions, & labor unions strong opposition from industrialists and the courts.
